After taking apart an electric lighter, I removed the tiny transformer from the circuit board and soldered alligator clips to it instead. Then, I cut a small hole in a glove and shoved the clips through. After attaching a small piece of Nichrome wire to the clips, I wrapped a piece of nitrocellulose, or “guncotton,” around the wire. When the energy ran through the wire, it heated up enough to ignite the nitrocellulose, which surprisingly didn’t burn or injure me at all, even though it ignited in my hand.
